Adding Usable to Microsoft 365

Grab the manifest for the app you want, then jump to the bit that matches you — installing it yourself, rolling it out across a team, or waiting for the store.

Start here

Get your app's manifest

Each app installs from its own manifest. Copy the URL to paste it where a dialog asks for one, or Download the .xml when you need the file itself. Word and Excel are live today; the rest are on the way.

Install it yourself

Best for trying Usable on your own machine. Use the manifest you copied or downloaded above — the exact steps depend on where you're working.

Word, Excel & PowerPoint on the web

  1. Download the manifest .xml for your app above.

  2. In the app: HomeAdd-insMore Add-insMy Add-ins.

  3. Choose Upload My Add-in, pick the .xml, and select Upload.

For an organisation

Roll it out to a team

For more than a couple of people, an admin deploys the add-ins centrally — nobody sideloads, and it lands on every device automatically. This is the recommended path for managed machines.

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin centerSettingsIntegrated apps.

  2. Choose Upload custom apps and provide the manifest URL (or the downloaded file) for each host.

  3. Assign to everyone, specific groups, or just yourself, and pick fixed deployment to auto-pin it to the ribbon.

  4. Save and allow a few hours to propagate — Usable then appears for users on web and desktop, with no sideloading.

Centrally deployed add-ins are scoped exactly like sideloaded ones — Usable only ever sees what each manifest declares.

One-click install from AppSource and the in-app Get Add-ins store is on the way. Until then, use a manifest above — the steps are quick.
